Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program
|
The Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program provides patients with everything from genetics screening for those at risk to surgical options and radiation therapy, as well as chemotherapy or hormone therapy treatment for men with cancer that has spread beyond the prostate. Our physician team carefully weighs all factors — stage of disease, patient age and health problems — and works with patients to select appropriate screening or treatment options.

Cancer Genetics Screening Program
The Cancer Genetics Screening Program provides genetic counseling and testing to individuals who may be at increased risk of cancer due to a personal history of cancer, a family history of cancer, or an underlying genetic condition. The goal of the program is to provide personalized counseling regarding cancer risk, cancer genetics, genetic testing, early detection, improved cancer management and possible risk reduction.
Diagnostic Tests and Free Exams
To determine whether or not men have prostate cancer and to assess the nature of the cancer, the Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program conducts diagnostic tests including needle biopsy, imaging exams, CAT, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Our rapid PSA blood test and digital rectal exam options have removed common barriers to early detection of prostate cancer. Learn more.
Range of Treatment OptionsFroedtert & The Medical College offer a range of treatment options for prostate cancer that is unmatched in southeastern Wisconsin.
Local Treatments
Among the treatment options offered through the Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program are surgery and radiation therapy, both intended to treat the cancer directly at the tumor site. Local treatments have proven to have curative advantages, and our physicians have the most experience in prostate cancer surgery in the state.
Systemic Treatments
Men with prostate cancer can benefit from a combination of local and systemic cancer treatments. Systemic treatments such as chemotherapy and hormone therapy are applied through the bloodstream to reach cancer cells that may have spread beyond the prostate gland to other parts of the body.
Clinical Trials
The clinical trials offered to our patients through the Prostate and Urologic Cancer Program provide access to options that aren’t available to all patients at other hospitals. Patients can receive medications and other treatments available nowhere else in the region through Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin while also contributing in a positive way to advancing treatments for prostate cancer.
Support Groups
