Foot and Ankle Program

Rehabilitation Services

Proper rehabilitation is vital to treating many foot and ankle disorders. Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin offer a full spectrum of physical therapy and related rehabilitation services as part of the Foot and Ankle Program. We focus on helping patients build strength, function, flexibility, stability, balance, coordination, range of motion and mobility.

We take a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care, working closely with foot and ankle surgeons and other specialists in casting, orthotics, prosthetics, wound care, nursing and other areas.

Our physical therapists work closely with the orthopaedic surgeons and understand the treatments and procedures the surgeons use and prescribe. Open communication and a team approach means that patients are treated by professionals who are familiar with their particular diagnosis and treatment plan.

From basic gait training to advance rehabilitation techniques, our rehabilitation staff has the skills, experience and training to advance the patient’s care as quickly, safely and effectively as possible. We strive to get patients in promptly for appointments and accommodate their schedules as much as possible.

Our program uses the latest rehabilitation equipment, offering everything from ultrasound for pain to massage, electrical stimulation and other therapy approaches. We pay close attention to where our patients are in their rehabilitation, what they can do at home (vs. in the clinic), what supportive devices they might need, and how quickly they can safely progress to the next treatment level.
