The Foot and Ankle Program of Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin offers unparalleled care for disorders of the foot and ankle. As the leading foot and ankle program in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest, our nationally recognized physicians provide comprehensive, collaborative care for problems ranging from the commonplace to the complex, including:
- Foot and ankle sports injuries including ankle instability and Achilles’ tendon disorders
- Ankle replacement
- Ankle arthritis
- Reconstruction of congenital and acquired deformities
- Diabetic limb salvage
- Rheumatoid foot and ankle reconstruction
- Forefoot disorders including hallux valgus (bunionectomy) and hammer toe surgery
- Non-surgical medical care of the foot
The Foot and Ankle Program is the only one in Wisconsin with two fellowship-trained orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons who dedicate their entire practice to treating foot and ankle disorders. Our multidisciplinary approach means that physicians and other medical professionals from a variety of fields work together to coordinate care. For example, orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, vascular surgeons, radiologists, orthopaedic nurses, physical therapists and researchers work together in the Foot and Ankle Program. They draw upon the resources of Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, one of the leading academic medical centers in the country. This kind of coordinated care, all on one campus, means greater convenience and better outcomes for patients.
The Foot and Ankle Program, in coordination with the Department of Biomechanical Engineering at Marquette University, also features the Human Motion Analysis Lab or “Gait Lab,” the only one of its kind in the state and an international research leader.
As part of our comprehensive care, the Foot and Ankle Program includes full-service, on-site orthotic and prosthetic services, a dedicated cast room and provides services from the Wound Care Clinic. Casting technicians are specially trained in bracing and casting all types of foot and ankle disorders, including diabetic total contact casts. Together with dedicated radiology and foot EMG (electromyography) services, program team members effectively treat foot and ankle disorders, from non-surgical treatments to the latest surgical options available.
