New Specialty Clinics Open at St. Joseph's Hospital

West Bend, WI (Feb. 9, 2009) — Six specialty physicians from The Medical College of Wisconsin will begin practicing in February at a new clinic located at St. Joseph’s Hospital, bringing expertise in urology, plastic surgery, cardiology and electrophysiology.

The physicians practicing in the new Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Specialty Clinics located at St. Joseph’s Hospital will be: Marcie Berger, MD, electrophysiology; John LoGiudice, MD, plastic surgery; Michael Guralnick, MD, Robert Donnell, MD, Jay Sandlow, MD, and Aaron Sulman, MD, urology. Additional Medical College faculty physicians in cardiology are expected to join the clinic this year.

The new clinic was developed through a collaborative effort between Froedtert & Community Health and The Medical College of Wisconsin through the joint Clinical Ventures Group (CVG) headed by Mark Lodes, MD, chief medical officer, and Jean Voight, chief administrative officer/chief financial officer.

“The addition of these outstanding Medical College faculty physicians at the new clinic expands the depth of expertise and services available to patients in West Bend and Washington County,” Dr. Lodes said.

“We’re excited to be able to offer our patients a new level of specialty care close to home,” said Michael Laird, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital. “With its proximity to St. Joseph’s Hospital, the new clinic will be very convenient for patients requiring these important specialty services. Access to primary and specialty care practices from Froedtert & The Medical College physicians is important to our future growth. We are proud to be able to join with our partners in welcoming these physicians to our community.”

Laird said the affiliation of St. Joseph’s Hospital and the West Bend Clinic with Froedtert & Community Health in July 2008 made it possible to bring Medical College physicians to the West Bend and Washington County area, enhancing the services offered by the hospital and West Bend Clinic providers.

The Medical College physicians are all medical staff members at St. Joseph’s Hospital and will be performing surgical procedures and utilizing lab, radiology and other ancillary services at the hospital. Urology and electrophysiology services will also be available for inpatient consults and emergency care.

The Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Specialty Clinics is located in an existing 2,930-square-foot space adjacent to the hospital at 3200 Pleasant Valley Road, on Hwy 45 south of West Bend. The entrance to the clinic is next to the West Bend Clinic-South main entrance.

The physicians will begin seeing patients this month following the clinic’s opening on Feb. 2. For appointments, patients may call the clinic at 262-836-7300.
