New Tool Allows Organizations to Share Vital Health Records
A new software tool — Care Epic — is allowing Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin to share vital medical records quickly with affiliated hospitals and clinics in the community. It gives physicians the records they need to make more informed decisions about a patient’s care without having to wait days or weeks. “Care Epic allows us to send records electronically, rather than faxing or mailing them,” said Rick Gillis, MD, Medical College of Wisconsin internist. “The benefit for the patient is that we can give better, faster care.” Today, Care Epic connects Froedtert & The Medical College with West Bend Clinic and St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend. According to Dr. Gillis, plans are under way to expand the service to other Epic software customers soon and to non-Epic customers in the future.
