Small Stones Wellness Center Helps Cancer Patients Cope

Enhancing life for people with cancer

Sometimes illness can affect more than health. It can also affect self-esteem. People who have cancer know this well. Cancer and/or cancer treatment can change the way they look and feel. These changes – hair loss, skin changes and other effects of cancer or treatment – can impact self-image and coping skills. To help men and women living with cancer, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Clinical Cancer Center created a special place – the Small Stones Wellness Center, located in the Clinical Cancer Center.

The Wellness Center supports healing by helping patients enhance appearance, promote relaxation and boost self-esteem. Skilled and compassionate staff members are devoted to helping people look their best with personal, one-on-one services.

The Wellness Center is unique in that products and services are integrated with medical care for patients being treated at the Clinical Cancer Center. All products and services are designed for patient comfort and well-being, and are safe and appropriate for people receiving cancer treatment.

The Wellness Center offers:
  • Skin care consultations and products
  • Wigs fitted by a wig consultant
  • Concealers and mineral-based makeup
  • Natural nail care products
  • Head coverings including hats, caps, turbans and scarves
  • Hair cutting services

Health-related books, CDs, unique jewelry and other items are also available.
