Members of the Froedtert Hospital family gathered on Thursday, December 6 in the Clinical Cancer Center to honor the recipients of the 2011 Bobbe Petasnick Scholarships. Fourteen recipients were honored at the event which featured remarks from Bill Petasnick, CEO Froedtert Health; John Pandl, Froedtert Health Chief Learning Officer; and Nora Sale, Froedtert Hospital Foundation’s Vice President and Executive Director.
At her core, Bobbe Petasnick was a teacher who valued education. That belief and her commitment to the staff of Froedtert Hospital inspired 241 memorial gifts to the Froedtert Hospital Foundation, each to celebrate her legacy.
This outpouring of support from members of our staff and the Petasnick Family were combined to establish a new scholarship fund, The Bobbe Petasnick Fund for Staff Education. The scholarship fund, supports career and educational development of Froedtert Hospital Staff with grants to be used for tuition assistance or education conferences.
Selected from over 70 recipients, all 14 of the Bobbe Petasnick Scholars were present, with colleagues and managers and supervisors cheering them on. They included:
• Emilie Aschenbrenner, Pharmacy

In his remarks, Bill Petasnick recalled Bobbe’s passion for teaching and her “deep moral conviction about making this world a better place and helping others achieve their greatest potential.” In her world, “everyone could excel if given the chance.”
Following Bobbe’s passing, Froedtert received an outpouring of memorial gifts. “In thinking about how to use the many contributions made in her memory, our family felt the best way was to create a special fund for our staff.”
Petasnick closed the evening with a touching and generous moment. Looking over the room filled with our new Bobbe Petasnick Scholars, he remarked that now, “you’re an extension of our family.” We think Bobbe would be proud.
The Petasnick family welcomes additional gifts to the Bobbe Petasnick Fund in the hopes of continuing its good work long into the future.
