World-Class Service
Many think of us as a specialty hospital — and we do receive referrals of many complicated cases. However, we offer much more. Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin provide for all of your adult healthcare needs in one place — whether you need a routine check-up, birthing services or a second opinion for a serious problem such as cancer or heart disease.
In addition, we provide all the advantages of an academic medical center — one of only two in Wisconsin. We also house the only adult Level I Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin — prepared to deal with any critical care need 24 hours, 365 days per year.
And because Medical College of Wisconsin physicians participate in significant national research, we help bring about scientific discoveries that result in new and better treatments each year.
Innovation
At Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, we have the privilege of being in on the “ground floor,” as far as innovative medicine is concerned. Physicians at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin have been part of many new developments in treatment and technology. We were the first in Wisconsin to offer Therasphere, a treatment for liver cancer. We are also one of only 20 centers worldwide to offer TomoTherapy, a highly precise radiation therapy for difficult-to-treat cancers. We also recently began using the eMar system — computerized software that accurately — and safely — tracks medications. Intellidose, another safety measure, tracks chemotherapy for cancer patients.
Exceptional Staff
At Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, you receive advanced care delivered by exceptional medical teams, including physicians nationally and internationally known and respected for their expertise. In 2009, 303 Medical College of Wisconsin physicians were named Best Doctors in America®, — more than any other hospital in Wisconsin. All of our staff are committed to what they are doing, whether it is delivering care, providing rehabilitation therapy, helping you navigate our system or making sure your experience here is as positive as it can be. We are also proud of our ability to teach the next generation of physicians and other healthcare professionals — a responsibility we take seriously.
Good Stewardship: Quality and
Cost-Effectiveness
As a healthcare provider, we understand part of our job is to stand accountable for costs and to clearly demonstrate the value and quality of our services. Healthcare facilities across the nation face tremendous external pressures to lower costs and keep patients safe while doing so. Froedtert Hospital has a long history of holding the line on costs.
Quality initiatives have always been part of our mission, but for the past five years, we have proactively taken part in efforts to not only critically examine our own operations, but to be part of local and national quality initiatives. In fact, we make a point of remaining an active leader in local and national discussions about healthcare issues.
Organizations such as The Leapfrog Group and the Wisconsin Collaborative on Healthcare Quality collect data that benchmarks best practices among many hospitals and shares that data with the public. Involvement with groups like these enables us to evaluate healthcare quality and safety trends today and then initiate improvements. Six Sigma process improvement is another valuable tool for us, and an integral part of Froedtert’s culture.
Partnerships That Enhance Access to Quality Healthcare
As a resource in the community for better healthcare, we form partnerships with local clinics and neighborhood outreach programs, such as the Westside Clinic. We also have affiliations with other organizations in Wisconsin, such as the Medical College of Wisconsin, Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Agnesian in Fond du Lac, ThedaCare in Appleton and United Hospital System in Kenosha. Through these partnerships, we can offer the advanced specialty services of Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin alongside community hospital care.
