Training the Next Generation

Minority Internships

Through the UWM Minority Internship Program, students enrolled at the UWM College of Health Sciences spend 10 intensive weeks at Froedtert Hospital learning about hospital operations and career development under the guidance of a staff mentor. The program exposes interns to the day-to-day operations of a hospital as well as the variety of career opportunities available to healthcare graduates.

“My internship helped boost my confidence by exposing me to the healthcare setting. It also gave me a chance to network and meet outstanding people. Being able to list Froedtert as an employer definitely gives my resumé a strong foundation.”

“My experience was a complete success and I'd recommend this for other students. I had the opportunity to explore all areas of the Radiology Department. I even was able to shadow radiologic technologists during procedures. This internship gave me the assurance this was something I wanted to do for a living.”

“The best thing about this internship is having the experience to work firsthand in a healthcare facility and gain a better perspective on my major. My mentor was also an asset because she helped guide me through the program. I now feel I have a strong base to help me further my career goals.”
