Building Our Community Partnerships

Through community partnerships, we help to enhance the health of the community with a focus on primary care, disease prevention and health education.
Community Benefit Fact
In fiscal year 2009, Froedtert Hospital donated equipment and other items valued over $128,000 to community groups.


Westside Healthcare Association
Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin have had a long partnership with Westside Healthcare Association, a federally qualified healthcare center (FQHC). Read more.

School Nurse
Froedtert Hospital provides a school nurse to Milwaukee Public Schools’ Westside Academies, two schools serving 600 students (grades K – 8) in the Washington Park neighborhood. The nurse provides care and case management for students during the school year and summer and helps link their families to health and dental services provided by Westside Healthcare Association.

Milwaukee Health Care Partnership
Froedtert Hospital is a member of Milwaukee Health Care Partnership. With a focus on expanding healthcare coverage, access and care coordination, the Partnership brings together healthcare providers, government agencies and community organizations to collaboratively improve the health of underserved people in Milwaukee County.

Community Education Programs
In 2009, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin conducted 194 community education programs and health screenings for more than 7,000 people. Education programs covered a variety of health improvement and disease prevention topics such as safe driving for teens, nutrition, heart health and CPR/first aid, free prostate screenings, and a free teen/single parent childbirth series.

Sponsorships and Community Support
Each year, Froedtert Hospital supports and participates in many community events and organizations, including the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Komen Race for the Cure, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Spinal Cord Injury Association, Epilepsy Foundation and the National Black Nurses Association - Milwaukee Chapter.

Froedtert Hospital is also proud to be a member of many community organizations, including:

Pastoral Care Volunteer Training Course
The Pastoral Care Course is designed to prepare persons of all faiths for hospital or parish visitation. Funded by a grant and free to all volunteers, the course is offered in the spring and fall of each year (15 students each time). Participants are required to attend all 10 sessions (30 hours of classroom and 10 hours of supervised patient visits). Upon completion, participants are awarded a pastoral care volunteer certificate.

Froedtert Cares – A Community Service Program
Through Froedtert Cares, our staff is encouraged to participate in community service in a variety of ways. The Froedtert Cares program includes community outreach as well as workplace giving campaigns. Most notably, the hospital provides up to eight hours of paid community service time for non-exempt (hourly) staff members each year.
